Provenance: Made for Mr. Richard Wistar (b. 1727, Germantown, Pennsylvania); to his son, Caspar Wistar, owner of Wistar Glassworks at Thompson's Bridge, near Salem, New Jersey; to his daughter, E. Hyatt Wistar Miller (b. 1791); to her daughter, Charlotte Wistar Acton (b. 1821) to her son, Clayton Wistar (b. September 12, 1845) who sold the lowboy to Mr. E. S. Youse of Reading, Pennsylvania, on January 3, 1929; to The Vincent D. Andrus Collection, Greenwich, Connecticut.

Reference: The skirt's scrolled profile, and the shell carved drawer and tendrils are nearly identical to the Nicholas Biddle Family Lowboy, sold at Sotheby's, January, 1994, lot 1280.
