Provenance: Mr. and Mrs. Bret Williams, Cleveland, Ohio; to their daughter. The Williams were collecting throughout the 1950’s and 1960’s purchasing many items from the top New York dealers such as Ginsburg & Levy, Israel Sack, Inc., and John Walton, Inc. A tambour desk of theirs appears in Vernon J. Stoneman’s A Supplement to John and Thomas Seymour Cabinetmakers in Boston, 1794-1816, entry 3.
