Reference: This embroidery was no doubt inspired by “The Parting of Hector and Andromache”, engraved by James Watson after a painting by Angelica Kauffman and was published in London by Robert Sayer, January 1, 1772. The James Watson engraving is illustrated in Betty Ring, Let Virtue Be A Guide to Thee, page 200.

Provenance: Probably the Mary Furlong who was born in Boston on December 13, 1796.
